We use cell-based assays to analyze biological effects of nanoparticles. We develop functional in vitro cell-based assays using highly proliferative primary human cells non-invasively isolated from human tissues.We investigate mechanisms of cytotoxicity and analyze effect of nanoformulations on cell proliferation, mitochondrial function, and intracellular signal transduction pathways. We are using a library of ECFCs isolated from different donors, what allows us to assess population-wide reponse to treatment in high density and high throughput format. We also custom develop cell-based bioassays using both primary cells and immortalized human and animal cell lines.
